Why did anyone want Julius Caesar dead?
Julius Caesar had invaded many countries and forced the senator into make him permanent dictator. Because he was gaining more and more power, some of the politicians thought that later down the road, he would become a king. They hadn't allowed a king to rule for almost 500 years because, the Romans didn't like the idea of having a monarchical rule.
Julius Caesar's death Julius was led into the Senate house, adjacent to the Theatre of Pompey. Led by Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus, a group of senators stabbed him to death. Julius's last known words were, "Et tu, Brute?" Which translates into, "You too Brutus?" |
